How to Speed up Computer

Defrag Hard Drive

When files are fragmented, the computer must search everywhere of the hard disk to enable the opened file to piece it back together. As a result, the response time is significantly longer. By right clicking “My Computer” icon on your desktop, you can use windows utility to defrag and consolidate fragmented files and folders on your computer’s hard disk so that each occupies a single space on the disk.
Detect and repair disk errors
In addition to consolidate hard drive components, you can check the integrity of the files stored on your hard disk by running the hard drive checking utility. As you use your hard drive, it can develop bad sectors. Bad sectors slow down hard disk performance and sometimes make data writing (such as file saving) difficult, or even impossible.
Clean Up Internal Windows Registry
Over time, the Windows Registry gets cluttered with information that’s no longer valid. Maybe you uninstalled an application incompletely with the Add or Remove Programs function in the Control Panel, or perhaps an object or file in the registry got moved. Eventually this corrupt information accumulates and begins to cause error messages, clog your registry, potentially slowing down your PC.
